Active Web Exploit on websites against Excel runs malicious code without user intervention13 Jul 2009

A vulnerability in Microsoft's Excel is being exploited via ActiveX by websites (malicious or hacked) to execute malicious code on user machines without any intervention needed by those visitors of the website. Microsoft is aware of the issue, there is no patch available at this time. Only a work around is available: use a browser other than Internet Explorer. Only IE uses ActiveX.
